UN camps for northern Afghanistan

The United Nations is to set up camps for the first time in the north of Afghanistan, to house tens of thousands of people displaced by war and three years of drought. The BBC Afghanistan correspondent says, until now, world attention has focused on the huge camps in the south, and in neighbouring Pakistan, where more than a-million people have sought refuge. But the UN says immediate action is needed to avoid a catastrophe in the north.USA, LATVIA BIGGEST TAJIKISTAN AID DONORS

Tajikistan received 35.6m dollars in aid from 28 countries in the first four months of this year, according to the State Statistics Committee. The biggest donor was the USA (almost 49 per cent of the total), followed by Latvia (21.KAZAKHSTAN INTERESTED IN IRANIAN OIL EXPORT ROUTE

Astana believes that the construction of an oil pipeline to Iran will benefit Kazakhstan both politically and economically. In particular, Kazakh Economy and Trade Minister Zhaksybek Kulekeyev thinks the project "very attractive" from the economic point of view. The Russian government has accepted a proposal made by the Foreign Ministry on the opening of a general consulate of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan in Yekaterinburg, the department of government information told RIA. Sverdlovsk Region administration has been instructed to provide services and accommodation for the Kyrgyz consulate.The Russian government has also accepted the Foreign Ministry proposal to open a general consulate of the Russian Federation in Osh, in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.Visit also
