A fire at an orphanage in the Tajik capital Dushanbe has left 13 children dead and 60 with serious burns. \"Thirteen children have been killed in the fire. The leadership of the unrecognized Republic of South Ossetia released on 4 January an expanded version of its list of Georgian officials whose actions or statements it considers criminal. The initial list contained five names, and the expanded one 28. An Azerbaijani-registered oil tanker spilled more than a ton of oil into the Caspian Sea at the Kazakh port of Aktau on 6 January. The Kazakh Emergency Situations Ministry responded by trying to enclose the immediate area and launching cleanup operations.
