IRAN READY TO ASSIST AZERBAIJAN\'S RECONSTRUCTION

Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said here Monday that Iran is ready to contribute to Azerbaijan\'s reconstruction. Kharrazi told Azeri Minister of State Property Farhad Aliyev that long-term plan should be worked out for expansion of economic ties between Tehran and Baku, particularly in the commercial, development and energy sectors. He said Iran has extended loan packages to Azerbaijan to expand commercial relations with the republic.

Kharrazi told Azeri Minister of State Property Farhad Aliyev that long-term plan should be worked out for expansion of economic ties between Tehran and Baku, particularly in the commercial, development and energy sectors. He said Iran has extended loan packages to Azerbaijan to expand commercial relations with the republic. Kharrazi and Aliyev signed an agreement here on Monday under which Iran will provide Azerbaijan with dlrs two million cash for joint economic research, rebuilding Astara-Baku road, a gas pipeline project in Nakhichevan, construction of Bilesawar road up to common border, building a bridge over Astarachay river and in the Iranian and Azeri cities of Jolfa, installation of power transfer lines on Imishli and Parsabad regions as well as Iranian and Azeri cities of Astara. The agreement envisages extension of a further dlrs 130 million loan to Azerbaijan to help it implement certain other projects. Kharrazi arrived in Baku on Monday at the start of a visit to south Caucasus states which will also take him to Georgia and Armenia. (IRNA)
