NORTH KAZAKHSTAN TARGETED BY ISLAMIC EXTREMISM

The extradition of two suspected terrorists was presented by law enforcement bodies as an illustration of the vigilance of security bodies. But the fact that foreign nationals, members of Taliban armed units trained in guerilla camps of Afghanistan and Tajikistan in the years 1998-2001 were residing in the country so long, using forged identity papers, only reminds the population of its vulnerability to possible terrorist attacks.Despite some pessimistic moods in the society, rooted in the growing sense of instability in the inflammable region, Kazakhstan is still believed to be the most secure place in Central Asia.
