A task force made up of representatives of the federal and Chechen governments should be set up to assess the damage caused to the republic since the mid-1990s, Chechnya\'s commissioner for human rights Nurdi Nukhazhiyev told Interfax on Thursday. \"The government of the Russian Federation should establish an expert commission involving representatives of the government of the Chechen republic to calculate the actual damage caused to the Chechnya by the hostilities since November 11, 1994 and to determine the total amount of financing to rebuild Chechnya\'s socioeconomic sector and clean up the environment,\" he said. Ex-members of the disbanded Gorets tactical group, formerly led by the wanted commander Movladi Baisarov, have surrendered a large arsenal to Chechen police. The Gorets detachment was disbanded at the order of a federal executive agency and its former members were attached to other units. \"Thirty-eight pieces of fire arms and over 6,000 pieces of ammunition were surrendered in the village of Pobedinskoye in Groznensky district on Tuesday, where the group was based,\" the Chechen Interior Ministry informed Interfax on Wednesday.By empty (11/14/2006 issue of the CACI Analyst)
The For Reforms! opposition movement in Kyrgyzstan has called on Prime Minister Felix Kulov to resign. \"Given the current situation the movement calls on Kulov to resign, because the parliamentary majority does not back his government, which may lead to crises and confrontations,\" For Reforms! member and human rights activist Edil Baisalov said at a press conference on Tuesday. The first gas was extracted on November 10 according to the Azerbaijan State Oil Company. Shah Deniz holds estimated reserves of 1 trillion cubic meters of gas, and is expected to produce between 5-6 billion cubic meters in 2007 and 8 billion cubic meters the following year.
