Russian-Uzbek joint military exercises began on 19 September in Uzbekistan\'s Jizzakh Province, about 250 kilometers outside of Tashkent. The scenario for the exercises, which involve 200 paratroopers from Russia\'s Pskov-based 76th Airborne Division, has Russian and Uzbek forces retaking a population center that has been seized by terrorists.
