The Headquarters for the Protection of the State Language, a union of Kyrgyz non-governmental and political organizations, has called for Russian to be stripped of its status as an official language in Kyrgyzstan. \"When Russian was accepted as an official language, Kyrgyz was pushed even further back into the shadows.
