International organizations are holding a campaign for abolition of the death penalty in Central Asia, International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights project coordinator Natalia Lazareva said at a Monday roundtable. \"Some problems have not been resolved, as a moratorium does not mean the abolition of the death penalty,\" she said. The federation launched the two-year project last December \"to give more information to citizens and discuss human rights aspects of the death penalty,\" Lazareva said.The Central Asia-Caucasus Analyst is a biweekly publication of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute & Silk Road Studies Program, a Joint Transatlantic Research and Policy Center affiliated with the American Foreign Policy Council, Washington DC., and the Institute for Security and Development Policy, Stockholm.
