Daghestan\'s Interior Ministry issued a statement on July 14 rejecting as untrue Chechen Prime Minister Kadyrov\'s claim that most of the 13 militants killed during fighting the previous day in Mesketi in southeastern Chechnya close to the border with Daghestan were Avars dispatched to Chechnya to commit acts of terrorism there. The Daghestan Interior Ministry claimed that six of those killed were ethnic Chechens from Daghestan\'s Khasavyurt and Novo-Lak districts.
