Several activists of the Islamic Democratic Party of Azerbaijan were arrested on August 7 by police during a demonstration held in front of the Israeli Embassy in Baku. Police detained Islamic Democratic Party leader Tahir Abbas and three party activists for staging an \"unsanctioned public gathering.\" The demonstration is the latest in a series of rallies protesting Israeli actions in Lebanon and follows similar pickets in front of the UN office and the embassies of both Israel and the United States in Baku.The Central Asia-Caucasus Analyst is a biweekly publication of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute & Silk Road Studies Program, a Joint Transatlantic Research and Policy Center affiliated with the American Foreign Policy Council, Washington DC., and the Institute for Security and Development Policy, Stockholm.
