The self-proclaimed republic of South Ossetia will hold a referendum on its independence on November 12, 2006, head of its information and press committee Irina Gagloyeva has announced. She said the decree of South Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity setting the date for the referendum was announced at a Monday conference of top government officials of the breakaway territory.
