Gagik Poghossian, an adviser to Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Markarian, was killed in Yerevan early on 11 September by a hand grenade attached to the front door of his apartment. Poghossian served from May to October 2000 as minister for tax returns, and in July 2001 was appointed head of Markarian's oversight committee.
