More than 100 Russian troops died on 19 August when an overloaded Mi-26 military transport helicopter crashed into a minefield near the air base in Khankala, near Grozny. Rudnik Dudaev, secretary of the Chechen Security Council, said that 39 survivors have been hospitalized.
