The Abkhaz prime minister has accused Georgia of trying to turn his republic into a reservation and to isolate its people from Russia, both politically and economically. Gennady Gagulia offered his comment on a statement from the Georgian ambassador to the UN, who, according to western media reports, accused Russia of annexing Abkhazia. \"Today, Georgia seems to continue to live in a time when citizen rights were considered worthless. Tbilisi\'s push for Abkhazia\'s economic and political isolation is a gross violation of the rights of the different peoples living in Abkhazia,\" the prime minister told Interfax on Saturday. \"As most Abkhaz people have Russian citizenship, all discriminatory measures will be aimed against Russian citizens, who have the legal right to have ties with Russia,\" Gagulia stressed. He said that Abkhazia\'s economic blockade \"will have the most negative impact on the settlement of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict.\" \"One should remember that the commitment to having close relations with Russia is a desire of all of the peoples living in the republic, and not a tactical step of the Abkhaz leadership,\" the prime minister stressed.
