Russian National Strategy Council Director Stanislav Belkovskii in separate interviews with RosBalt on 24 December and \"Zavtra,\" No. 52, said the main goal for President Vladimir Putin in 2004 will be to present the country with a new political course, which could be called \"the strategy of Russian national revenge in all possible forms.\" Belkovskii, who is widely believed to have foreshadowed the campaign in recent months against the oligarchs with his analytical reports last summer stated that the essence of the new course \"will be to put an end to the epoch [of former President Boris Yeltsin] and to bring to power a new anti-Yeltsin elite.The Central Asia-Caucasus Analyst is a biweekly publication of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute & Silk Road Studies Program, a Joint Transatlantic Research and Policy Center affiliated with the American Foreign Policy Council, Washington DC., and the Institute for Security and Development Policy, Stockholm.
