Uzbek President Islam Karimov and South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun signed a strategic partnership declaration in Seoul on March 29, Uzbek television reported. The visit also produced a number of South Korean investment initiatives, the South Korean news agency Yonhap reported. South Korea\'s National Oil Corporation (KNOC) and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uzbek state oil and gas company Uzbekneftegaz to explore, and possibly develop, two oil and two gas fields in Uzbekistan.The Central Asia-Caucasus Analyst is a biweekly publication of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute & Silk Road Studies Program, a Joint Transatlantic Research and Policy Center affiliated with the American Foreign Policy Council, Washington DC., and the Institute for Security and Development Policy, Stockholm.
