A delegation of European Union experts led by Finnish diplomat Pekka Oinonen visited the eastern Uzbek city of Andijon on December 14 in a bid to assess the bloodshed there in May 2005, RFE/RL\'s Uzbek Service reported. Oinonen told RFE/RL that the delegation met with city officials, but had no time to talk to residents. The Uzbek government, which has persistently refused to let the international community investigate the Andijon events, agreed on November 8 to \"discuss\" last year\'s events with EU experts.
